Maltese Price

How Much Is a Maltese Puppy?

What a Divine Maltese puppy costs, what comes with it, and what to budget for.

Our Maltese Puppy Price

$600 for a pet puppy, the same for a boy or a girl, and the same for a teacup-sized puppy as for its littermates.

That is the whole price. There is no other fee at any point. It is paid before the puppy travels or when you collect, and travel, if you need it, is quoted separately for your route. The puppies available now are on the available puppies page.

What the Price Includes

  • A veterinary examination, by our veterinarian before the puppy leaves, with the certificate of health.
  • Vaccinations and worming, up to date for its age, with the written record of every date.
  • AKC registration papers, on Limited Registration for a pet puppy, with a spay or neuter agreement.
  • A week of its food, so the first days at home start on what the puppy already eats.
  • Health-tested parents, checked for patellar luxation, examined for heart defects and by a veterinary ophthalmologist under CAER, and bile acid tested for liver shunt.
  • A written health guarantee, and a promise to take the dog back at any age, for life.

Teacup Maltese Price

Some sellers charge far more for a very small puppy. Here, size does not change the price: a teacup-sized puppy is simply the smallest of a normal litter from tested parents, and it costs what its littermates cost. What a very small puppy does need is more care in its first months: regular small meals and gentle handling. What teacup really means · teacup-sized puppies for sale.

Why Maltese Prices Vary So Much

  • Health testing of the parents. Patella, heart, eye and liver tests cost a breeder money and are worth paying for.
  • The age a puppy leaves. Keeping a toy puppy to twelve weeks means more weeks of food, care and vet visits before it goes home.
  • Registration and paperwork. AKC papers, a written contract and a written guarantee.
  • The breeding behind the puppy. Parents bred to the standard, and a kennel that tests itself in the show ring.
  • Travel. A flight nanny or ground transport adds to the total, so ask for it up front.

What a Maltese Costs to Keep

Grooming is the main running cost: daily brushing at home, and a professional groom every four to six weeks if you keep the coat short. Add a small amount of good food, routine vet care and dental care (toy breeds are prone to tooth trouble), vaccinations and parasite prevention, and pet insurance if you want it. Grooming a Maltese and feeding a Maltese have the detail.
